ENERGY EFFICIENCY

We have achieved significant household savings through the implementation of a new consumption model based on collaboration, the installation of incentives and citizen education.

We believe that Chile can reduce energy consumption at a national level, as a way of making a direct impact on the reduction of CO2 emissions.

In a coordinated way, together with the ministries of Energy and Environment we joined in 2016 United for Efficiency, the international initiative of the UN Environment Programme, a global effort of 65 countries around the world to promote energy efficiency.

At a national level, Fundación Chile created a model for the large-scale replacement of high-consumption electrical appliances that began with lighting and will later continue with other appliances.

Promote energy efficiency through comprehensive and coordinated solutions among different actors.

Make available, along with brands and retailers, efficient technology devices at an affordable price for different socioeconomic sectors.

Create a culture of energy efficiency in the community, that not only generates an impact on family energy consumption, but also allows for concrete action that positively impacts on the environment.

They worked on the proposal of MEPS (minimum energy efficiency standard) and labeling, which also included the input of the entire industry. There was a collaborative work between the SEC and the testing laboratories to update the protocols and develop new energy efficiency standards for lighting.

The foundations of the Extended Producer Responsibility Law (known in Spanish as REP) were laid for the WEEE priority product.
