The President of the Republic, José Antonio Kast, appointed four members to the Board of Directors of Fundación Chile, an organization whose purpose is to promote Chile’s sustainable development and which this year marks 50 years since its founding.
The newly appointed members are Carmen Luz Assadi, Julio Pertuzé, Raúl Figueroa, and Bracey Wilson, who join the board replacing Nolfa Ibáñez, Pablo Zamora, Alan Farcas, and Leonardo Prieto, respectively. Also serving on the board, by virtue of their positions, are Corfo’s Executive Vice President, José Ignacio Mujica, and ANID’s National Director, Alejandra Pizarro.
The Office of the President and Fundación Chile expressed their gratitude for the contribution and commitment of the outgoing board members during their terms.
It should be noted that Fundación Chile is a private-law, nonprofit corporation, public-private in terms of its partners and mission. Its partners are the State of Chile and BHP, through Minera Escondida Ltda. Accordingly, its Board of Directors is composed of twelve members: six appointed by the State of Chile and six appointed by Minera Escondida Limitada. The latter are René Muga, Cecilia Azar, Juan Carlos Román, Mariano Pola, Pamela Chávez, and Celia Alvariño.
According to the organization’s bylaws, at the first session held following the appointment, the board will elect its new chair from among the directors appointed by the State of Chile. On that occasion, General Manager Hernán Araneda, in compliance with the formalities established for this purpose, will report on the receipt of the notification informing the change of directors.
