In 1980 we carried out the first processes and commercialization tests ofraspberries, blackberries and strawberries, better known as berries. Later, in 1985, we worked on the introduction of new varieties through the Development of New Species Program such as cranberry, and lingonberry sanddorn, among others. In addition, Berries La Unión and Tecnagro companies were created and sold to Chilean investors.
The first dreams to import genetic material of selection and to learn productive techniquesused in U.S. and Europe came true, encouraged the cultivation of new plantations. At that time, specialists of production and process of berries came to Chile; we organized courses and seminars, and began the commercial development of specialized orchards in the south of the country.
