Seven months before the presidential election, the candidates aspiring to La Moneda, José Antonio Gómez (PRDS), Laurence Golborne (UDI), Andrés Velasco (Independent) and Thomas Jocelyn -Holt (independent), got together at GAM to participate in the meeting “Presidential Energy” promoted by Escenarios Energéticos: Chile 2030.
The Energy and Climate Change research and projects’ director at Fundación Chile, Annie Dufey, was responsible for explaining the initiative, stating that its purpose was to get the presidential candidates to include their ideas on the energy matrix in their government programs.
Escenarios Energéticos: Chile 2030 is a cross and multi-sector dialogue initiative composed by Empresas Eléctricas A.G., the Chile Sustentable program, Generadoras de Chile A.G., Fundación Chile, Fundación Avina and Fundación Futuro Latinoamericano, among others.
In addition to explaining their proposals on energy, the invitation made by Escenarios Energéticos: Chile 2030 wants to generate a long-term work agenda with the candidates. After today’s release, “Presidential Energy” will have 7 months to prepare technical contentsto facilitate discussion and debate.
It considers organizing 2 discussion Forums, one with the pre-candidates and, another one, with the candidates that will be in November’s ballots. Finally, there will be a publication that contains energetic proposals and that pursues becoming a civic guide to monitor the implementation of the proposals compromised by the future President.
