This public-private initiative seeks to develop new skills in people, aligned with the new demands of digital transformation.

We aim to expand people’s opportunities by providing the possibility to access to quality jobs. We want to accelerate Chile’s transition to the new digital economy.

Digital Talent is a public-private initiative that aims to generate a virtuous system of training for work, allowing vulnerable people to improve their employability and companies have the current and future digital talent they require.

In its first phase 2019-2022 it has been proposed to train 16,000 people. To achieve this, it works in 3 main areas:

  • Development of a wide network of companies.
  • Development of a pipeline of vulnerable people with interest in careers related to digital.
  • Development of an ecosystem of suppliers under a world-class Bootcamp methodology that reduces the restriction of training offerings of this type in Chile.


Chile faces a growing demand for human capital with skills to solve digital related challenges and with specific digital skills. On the other hand, a high percentage of vulnerable people work in routine tasks with a high risk of automation. FCh estimated together with the National Productivity Commission that 1.9 million people are in this situation. The figure rises to 4.9 million if we consider occupations with medium-high automation risks. Finally, there is no adequate training offer that contributes to reduce the gap between supply and demand of technicians with digital skills.

In this context, vulnerable people with low skills do not have the possibility of leaving the labor market for a long time to train and access an accelerated path towards quality training programs, due to financing restrictions, alternative

  • In Chile there is a 25% deficit of professionals per year in this area

  • The annual gap in ICT professionals reaches 5.000 people

  • This, while the number of information services companies has grown by 110%, turnover by 87% and human capital by 61%, with a 2020 demand of 65,000 people.

The initiative aims to put in place a mechanism that is articulated with the components of: demand, training and evaluation and labor intermediation, for both the human capital agenda for the export of services and the National Plan for Human Capital for Industry 4.0 (PNCH 4.0), generating pilot programs and initiatives that allow people to develop skills to access quality jobs, in line with the demands of the digital economy with a focus on inclusion.

Program’s Roadmap

MARCH 2020

3250 scholarships will be opened gradually throughout 2020. The first call will take place in March.


1500 young people from 8 cities start the first classes with the Bootcamp Methodology.


The Companies Network is formed to support the employment mediation of the courses’ graduates, with 70 registered companies.


The first applications stage is adjourned, giving way to the selection and registration processes.


ICARE Talento Digital para Chile was held, counting with the presence of the Minister of Finance and the participation of entrepreneurs and actors from the public and private sectors.


Through the project’s new web platform, applications for the first 4 courses with 1500 vacancies open.


TSO Tender Terms and Conditions. Twelve institutions won the possibility to participate in the first stage.


Digital Talent for Chile was launched with the presence of the Ministers of Finance and Labor.

Con la presencia de los ministros de Hacienda y de Trabajo se lanzó Talento Digital para Chile.


International experience: New York Tech Talent Pipeline

This initiative is based on the experience of Tech Talent Pipeline, implemented in New York since 2014. The model seeks to train people in the 21st century skills.

Results to date show that 75% of students access quality employment after graduation, with a dropout rate of 5%.

Agile Methodology:Bootcamp

Digital Talent for Chile uses Bootcamp methodology, recognized internationally as the most effective in the combination of time, learning, successful job placement and being in tune with the needs of the digital industry. It proposes a change in the evaluation system that, also as a learning experience, must be focused on the students’ process and not only on the result.

For this, it establishes questions that enable  research and require the mobilization of different resources by the students, so that they are able to verify their learning and related processes. In this sense, the evaluation is not of the learning obtained, but an actual way of learning in itself.
