Strengthening sustainability-related competencies in EMTP students, particularly in the Metropolitan Region, with a focus on renewable energy and related fields.
There is currently a structural gap that is not very visible in the Chilean educational system, related to the lack of pedagogical training among teachers in Technical-Professional Secondary Education (EMTP). This directly impacts the quality of learning, continuity in STEM pathways, and the development of human talent in key sectors for the country’s development.
female participation in the technical-professional workforce.
new technical-professional profiles in the energy sector will be required by Chile in the next decade.
Students and teachers in EMTP in Chile, especially in the Metropolitan Region, have gaps in technical and cross-cutting competencies regarding renewable energy, which limits their opportunities in educational and employment pathways in areas associated with the green economy and the educational system’s capacity to respond to the demands of the energy sector.
Strengthen sustainability-related competencies in EMTP students, particularly in the Metropolitan Region, with a focus on renewable energy and related fields.
Its main goal is to equip both students and teachers with the necessary skills for the transition to a green economy, fostering technical and cross-cutting capabilities aligned with the energy sector.
Validate and adjust the Green Talent model, verifying the relevance of its components (competency reference framework, institutional self-assessment, student and team coach training, and development of innovation projects) in EMTP institutions (unlike Coquimbo, which involved higher education institutions) and their linkage with the regional productive ecosystem for the development of capabilities related to green jobs in the Metropolitan Region.
Focus talent development and competencies for sustainability, with emphasis on renewable energy and related fields, and equip both students and teachers with the necessary skills for the transition to a green economy.
Strengthen sustainability-related competencies in EMTP students within the Metropolitan Region, which concentrates the country’s largest population.
The project will benefit 90 teachers and administrators; and 800 students from the Metropolitan Region in the provinces of Chacabuco, Cordillera, Maipo, Melipilla, and Santiago in specialties such as electricity, automotive mechanics, and industrial mechanics.
700 students in internships or professional experiences; 320 students in apprenticeship programs (hiring and/or training); 179 students who will remain employed between 90 and 180 days after placement.
700 students who improve their employability skills in green areas through certifications.
60% of students come from Technical High Schools in the Metropolitan Region with a high vulnerability index.
600 students access positive outcomes, which translate into quality employment, post-secondary education institutions (professional and technical training), or other certification programs after completing the program.
A validated technical-professional training model is established in Chile with the potential to scale nationally.
